Rivian to Establish East Coast Headquarters Along Atlanta Beltline (Featured)

Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian is set to open its new East Coast headquarters in the heart of Atlanta, marking another milestone in the company’s growing footprint in Georgia.

The new headquarters will be located in the Junction Krog District building, a mixed-use development along the Atlanta Beltline’s Eastside Trail. Rivian plans to occupy the top floor and lobby of the building, strategically positioning itself within one of the city’s most dynamic and creative corridors.

Why It Matters:Georgia Governor Brian Kemp hailed the announcement as “the latest demonstration of [Rivian’s] commitment to the Peach State.” The move signals Rivian’s continued investment in Georgia even as it navigates delays in other areas of its operations.

What They’re Saying:“Atlanta embodies so much that makes Georgia great — top talent, exceptional creativity, and a desire to always be moving forward,” said Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe. “We’re excited to build deeper roots in the state through this new hub.”

Context:Rivian’s decision to expand in Atlanta comes as construction remains paused at its ambitious 2,000-acre manufacturing site located roughly 50 miles east of the city, spanning Walton and Morgan counties. Initially announced as a $5 billion project, it stands as one of the largest economic development efforts in Georgia’s history.

In January, the U.S. Department of Energy closed on a $6.5 billion loan to support Rivian’s infrastructure and manufacturing goals, helping the company resume construction efforts at the site.

The Fine Print:As part of its economic development agreement with the state, Rivian must meet 80% of its promised $5 billion investment and deliver 7,500 jobs by December 31, 2030. The agreement also requires those benchmarks to be maintained through 2049, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

Looking Ahead:With its new East Coast headquarters in Atlanta and federal backing to reignite construction at its flagship Georgia plant, Rivian appears poised to play a key role in the state’s emergence as a hub for electric vehicle manufacturing.
